Coral and Navy

Standard

I just got these new patent leather pointy toe flats from Banana Republic on discount and I’m loving them!  Matches my blazer perfectly!  I I wore it with navy/white stripes, but I think you could wear any shirt with it.

Mint and Salmon Make A Better Outfit than Sandwich

Standard

Mint and salmon make a better outfit than and sandwich.  Might be corny, but its definitely true!!  I put these two colors together and love it.  I got this mint peplum skirt online recently and can’t get enough of it…but unfortunately its not something you can wear everyday.

My Novel Idea – Turning a Dress Into a Shirt

Standard

I was having a hard time figuring out what I wanted to wear and saw this sun dress and decided to give it one last whirl around by turning it into a shirt by adding a skirt.  Same dress, but looks TOTALLY different in the two outfits.

A Steal of a Deal!

Standard

I bought this skirt a few months ago in hopes that it would fit me one day…and it finally does! yes!!  Mainly I love this skirt for two reasons:  1. the neon color and 2. (and more importantly) it cost me $1.17, when it was originally $50!  Whatta steal!  I’m still working on what top to wear it with, but chose a solid tank for today.

Neon for Days

Standard

I got this dress earlier this year at Ann Taylor Loft and I just loveeee it!  I love wearing neon colors, and this dress takes the cake with its bright stripe down the front and neon yellow details.  It’s really the cream of the crop as far as neon goes!  To top it off, I paired it with neon yellow accessories.

Now I See What Happened There…

Image

I got this shirt from my sister.  She was getting rid of it, and when I saw it in her “give away” pile, I thought “oh that shirt is cute! I’ll take that!  She willingly handed it over but neglected to mention that she was giving it away because it was defective.  I was feeling lazy this morning and just quickly threw on some old skinnies and this tank and was only about half way to work (I live a mere 10 minutes away from work) when I realized my fatal mistake.  The reason my sis was giving the shirt away was because the strips do NOT stay on your shoulders.  It’s like your shoulders and the tank straps are polar opposites and refuse to stay together.  UGH!  needless to say I have already given the shirt away to the next poor soul who things it will be different for her…

Color Blocking

Standard

Last year around this time is when I decided to try and dress nicely.  After months of basically wearing yoga pants and/or the same couple of outfits, always the same way, one of my friends, and fellow fashion bloggers, tattoosandpearls, came over and helped me go through my wardrobe as well as put together some outfits.  The outfit I’m wearing today wasn’t created by her, but it is inspired from one of the looks she created for me.

I’m doing a magenta and coral (two colors I never would put together myself) color blocking, with teal/blue accents with my shoes, scarf and earrings.  I just thought of doing this because I recently grabbed this shirt from my sister – she was getting rid of it.  It came with a “belt” which basically was a piece of yarn, the same color as the shirt.  I took that right off, and added my own gold belt.  I find that most of the time when something comes with a belt I do like a belt with the outfit, but hate the belt offered.  It’s more fun to mix and match anyway!

So here we are at the end of April and it’s STILL not very warm yet!  I can’t say I’m completely disappointed because my feet are in no shape for open toed shoes or sandals quite yet, but still I’m sick of the cold!  I’m hoping this springy/warm outfit will help mother nature realize what season it is!  Supposedly we are supposed to get temps in the high 60s today, so keep your fingers crossed!

As you can see I’m wearing my mint skinnies (again – man, I’m already tacking some miles on these puppies after only a few weeks of owning them) along with an old coral tank and floral cardi strapped together with a gold belt.  I’m also wearing a matching pair of coral pumps.  Love them!!

A Wedding Reception

Standard

4.20.13_1.JPGOver the weekend I went to a belated wedding reception and got to wear this awesome dress from LOFT that I picked up a few weeks ago.  Basically I’ve been dying to wear it ever since I got it.  Originally I got it for 40% off, but then there was a flash sale, so I went back, returned it, and got it for 50% off because I hadn’t worn it yet.  (And that’s 40% and 50% off the sale price, not the rack price!!)  Hey, you can call me cheap if you want, but being cheap is the only way I can afford so many clothes! 🙂  I didn’t really like the sash that the dress originally came with, so I swapped it out for a skinny belt that matched the yellow detail at the top collar.   I added in matching neon studs and called it a day.

4.20.13.JPG

Shoes:  Payless ($25)

Dress:  LOFT ($28, originally $89 <-who would pay that!?)

Spring Time Floral

Standard

So, full disclosure:  I’m swapping today’s and tomorrow’s outfits.  I’m not actually wearing this outfit today, but I’m gonna wear it tomorrow.  And what I post tomorrow is actually what I’m wearing today.  A little swapperoo, thats all.  So here it is:  I’m going with rose-pink skinnies, a green “pilgrim” top, and a floral sweater with a pink belt and pumps.

Today I’m going with my “Birthday Outfit”, not to be confused with my birthday suit. 😉  I wore this when I went out to dinner and bowling with some friends for my birthday a couple weeks ago, and I really liked it.  The pants have some stretch to them, which naturally makes them really comfortable, and the peplum top is the first (and only) that I have. pair it with some diamond and black accessories and call it a day .

Ain’t That Just Peachy

Standard

I lovveee spring because spring means brighter colors and lighter fabrics.  My absolute favorite thing about spring is that it means SUMMER is right around the corner!  YAY!! I’ve been waiting to wear these pumps for months.  Literally.  I got them back in December because I saw them and couldn’t pass them up, but it’s been way to cold, dreary, and basically just wintery for me to actually wear them.  I paired them with a new blazer my awesome mom got me and mint and gold accessories.

Air Travel

I’m traveling home from Iowa today so I wanted to wear something comfy, while also trying to wear my bulkier items since I only have a carry on. I went with my boots, skinnies, a peach cardigan and my mom’s leopard infinity scarf. I love peach + animal print! Comfy, casual, and cute!

Black, Tan, and Peach all Over

Standard

I got this idea from J’s Everyday blog!  I loveeeee her outfits, and when I saw this one I was immediately kicking myself to taking back that same blazer over the summer.  My friend Carrie told me to keep it, but I said I “didn’t need it” and now after seeing this outfit, I realize I do!  haha I made due with what I did have, though!  My outfit is a bit different because unlike Florida’s weather (where J lives), I’m in CT and it’s FREEZING!  I went with two-tone flats, black stockings, black skinnies, black tank, and a peach button down sweater.  I enjoy this outfit because it’s great for work, but also brings in some great colors!
