Dubuque Days

So here I am in Iowa. What’s in Iowa? My family. That’s it…no really…there is pretty much nothing else out here, but its always great to visit and see the family. Anyways, so I know I wore this sweater a last week, but I styled it differently, which makes it a completely different outfit! I opted for some flats (Dubuque isn’t much of a “stiletto-society”), my awesome hot pink bubble necklace my sister gave me for Christmas, and a sock bun. Sock bun was mostly because I don’t have a blow dryer and didn’t have time to wash my hair and let it dry so this was the most acceptable thing I could come up with. Thank God for long hair! Am I right?

Perfect, No Heat.

So I have no heat at my apartment, but luckily I DID have warm water…so I was able to warm up in the shower!  It better be warm by the time I get home tonight!  I wanted to do a “casual Friday” sort of look today so I went with a preppy-meets-emo sort of style.  I’ve got my chucks, black skinnies, and an old oversized argyle sweater with straight hair and thick glasses.  Works for me!  To be honest, I was kind of in a rush to get to work this morning.  Not because I was dying to get to work or anything…mostly because I was dying to warm up!

Puppy Love

I love my dalmatian sweater!  It’s super cute, and I can wear it with color or with black or with blue jeans!  I lovvveee it!  This is my personal favorite look with this sweater – dalmatian sweater with  hot pink!  My sister got me this awesome pink bubble necklace for Christmas that I would also like to wear with this sweater, but it was too much with the pants and belt so I had to make a cut…next time, though!  Next time!

When Does a Leopard Have Stripes?

Over the weekend I was over at my parent’s house and my mom insisted on letting me borrow her new leopard scarf.  Of course, it wasn’t a hard sell considering that I’ve complimented it every time she’s worn it, and obviously was in love with it!  She showed me this picture on Pinterest (my mom is a Pinterest Addict – but that’s a story for another day) that showed one way to wear it:  by mixing prints!  I thought it was cute, so I went for it!  I matched it with a black and white striped shirt, like the one in the picture she showed me, along with blue-jean skinnies and flat boots.  (I’m currently having a foot issue, which is why I’ve been wearing flats as of recently, but I’m hoping my Dr. will clear me to wear my heels again at my apt. on Thursday!).  What do you think?

Black, Tan, and Peach all Over

I got this idea from J’s Everyday blog!  I loveeeee her outfits, and when I saw this one I was immediately kicking myself to taking back that same blazer over the summer.  My friend Carrie told me to keep it, but I said I “didn’t need it” and now after seeing this outfit, I realize I do!  haha I made due with what I did have, though!  My outfit is a bit different because unlike Florida’s weather (where J lives), I’m in CT and it’s FREEZING!  I went with two-tone flats, black stockings, black skinnies, black tank, and a peach button down sweater.  I enjoy this outfit because it’s great for work, but also brings in some great colors!

Snow Patrol

So today I woke up to about 6 inches of snow, so I had to try to jazz up a very warm and cozy outfit.  Trust me – it’s a Uggs and leg warmers kind of day!  I ended up with an old pair of skinnies, a turtle neck paired with a statement necklace and oversized sweater.  What do you wear when the weather doesn’t cooperate with your style?

What are you lookin at?

I LOVE this dress!  I got it over the summer at Target and I’ve found that with black tights and a black jacket its also cute for the winter!  I am absolutely in love with these shoes, which I found on JustFab.com, and normally I wear them with pants, so I was happy to finally wear them with a dress!  I’m a huge fan of this outfit.  It looks nice, but its also on the edgy side.

I fell in love with this skull scarf as soon as I saw it.  I knew I must have it.  I hinted around to about 4 people about how much I LOVED it and prayed someone would get it for me for Christmas.  My wish came true and Daddy Dearest gave it to me!  I just love it!  The fabric is light, but the pattern is a bit edgy.  I like mixing a few different styles here…the pretty cobalt cardigan with the skull scarf and girlie bracelets.  Then adding in my chucks to keep it very casual.  This is an outfit I wore to work and I was comfortable all day.  I love the “sock bun” too.  I woke up late and didn’t have time to shower so a sock bun worked out great for the “second day hair”. sweet!

Casual Elegance

I LOVE this outfit!! The whole thing!  It’s quick and easy since it’s just a sweater and jeans, but I think its so cute!  I went shopping over the weekend at Clinton Crossings and I got this adorable sweater.  J Everyday says its “in” and I’m cool with that because I love pups and new ideas!  I love it with this big diamond necklace and my new winter pumps!

As you’ll notice, I’m obsessed with colored skinnies! I love them!  They are always fun, and they make any outfit stand out.  Many times I like mixing a colored or patterned top with colored bottoms but today I went with mostly black, besides my pants obviously, and a a leopard belt for a lil sumpin sumpin 😉 .

I really like mixing red and plum together.  Though the colors are much different, I think they look really nice together.
